5・6講時 English Through MusicIn this workshop, students will explore various cultural and grammatical points as they appear in music. The selection includes a variety of songs from different eras, and students are welcome to makes song suggestions as well. The workshop will include discussion and task based exercises along with that week’s song. (Judith Hayauchi) Food ScienceScientific English for food
Nutrition: What's in that food? What do you need to eat for good health? Good diets, bad diets, special diets.
Chemistry: How does cookie dough turn into a cookie? Why does meat get darker when you cook it?
Botany: What is Latuca sativa and how did it get that name? Where did it come from and how did it become the main ingredient in salads all over the world?
Medicine: Plants have been used as medicine for thousands of years all over the world. Why? Why do doctors in Germany tell patients to drink chamomile tea instead of giving them drugs for nervousness? (Don Weiss)
7・8講時 DebateIn this workshop, students will be provided with the language and customs appropriate in presenting opposing viewpoints. Each week, the students will be asked to take a position on a number of controversial statements and then support it within a structured debate format.

Trending NowThis is a series of workshops that will examine and discuss recently trending topics in news and society. The main focus is on discussing and sharing opinions about the topic. Short news articles with vocabulary tasks and other exercises will be used. (Judith Hayauchi) English GrammarThis is a series of workshops designed to review and reinforce the proper use of basic grammatical structures. Each week a topic is introduced and then practiced through a number of task based exercises. Primary structures include verb tenses, modals and prepositions.(Jeff Patrick)

<ワークショップの予約方法>

  • 前期はマークカードで予約を行います。
  • 予約期間は、ワークショップ1回目開始のおおよそ2週間前から前日16:00までです(月曜日のワークショップは金曜日の16:00まで)。定員(10人)に達した場合は、その時点で予約が締め切られます。
  • 1期間中に予約できるワークショップは2つまでです。
  • 定員に空きがあれば当日参加することもできますが,その日は見学の扱いとなります。

<マイレージポイント>

  • ワークショップ1回につき3ポイント程度が付与されます。
    受講態度により,ポイントは変わります。
  • マイレージポイントは,その期のワークショップを修了した後で付与されます。
  • 当日参加した場合は見学扱いとなり,マイレージポイントはつきません。
